Safety in the backcountry is paramount for a fun, enjoyable experience yet many  backcountry travellers are still not equipped with some basic,  practical skills to help them get home safely. The link below will take you the CAA's (Canadian Avalanche Associations) Online Avalanche First Responder Training Course.   If you lack specific avalanche training, this is where to start. AST Level 1 - Vernon

 Trigger Point Snow Services is offering the AST level 1 training course in Vernon this weekend. It consists of one day of classroom training on Sunday the 18th and then there will be a field training day sometime in December. Date to be announced. The cost for the 2 day course is $300. Transceiver/Go Pro Interference

Check out this video that clearly shows that a Go Pro Camera interferes with your Avalanche Beacon's transceiver. Make sure to turn off all electronics including Cell phones in a search situation.
