Honoring Donegal Wilson: A Legacy of Leadership and a Bright Future Ahead

As we gear up for the holidays, the BC Snowmobile Federation (BCSF) takes this important time of reflection and change to share a heartfelt message with our community. Along with warm holiday wishes, we are announcing a significant transition within our organization.

Happy Holidays Everyone!

May your stockings be filled with spare belts and new spark plugs. With a genuine holiday wish, we hope a look out your window shows an abundance of fluffy white powder snow this holidayseason.

With 2024 ending, we wanted to thank BC Snowmobile Clubs and Riders for their Continued efforts to act as stewards and ambassadors of the mountains and trails, ensuring winter access to the stunningly beautiful British Columbia backcountry! It is genuinely a treasured playground.

As the year closes, so does the employment of one of British Columbia's most influential snowmobile ambassadors. Donegal Wilson, our Executive Director, has moved up the ladder to represent the Boundary Similkameen region as the local MLA. With that, her last official day with the BCSF will be Sunday, December 15, 2024.

Her departure will undoubtedly leave a void, but we are committed to continuing her legacy and the work she has started. Donegal's journey, from a literal dark basement in Sandman Hotel Kelowna, BC, where she was hired as the BCSF Annual General Meeting Administrator in September 2012, to becoming one of British Columbia's most influential snowmobile ambassadors, is truly inspiring. Her employment has netted us all many significant snowmobiling agreements and access to areas of British Columbia that will long be sustainable for many of us to enjoy. She deserves a heartfelt thank you from all. What an astonishing effort!

Most notable, our Executive Director Donegal challenged the BCSF staff, Board, and member snowmobile club’s board of directors to look forward and lead to ensure we best represent responsible stewardship while accessing the backcountry. During her leadership, she was influential in many actions with the Government, which created area-specific agreements where snowmobiling may have been lost. For many clubs, directors, and riders, I would challenge that she acted as a voice of reason, a life skills coach, a phone friend, and a true hero for organized snowmobiling. Her graphic memory of events and agreements will be missed and not forgotten.

Donegal, on behalf of an appreciative crew of snowmobilers across British Columbia, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your incredible contributions. Your tireless efforts have ensured that snowmobiling will remain a cherished activity for generations to come. We are genuinely excited to see the positive impact you will make as the MLA for the Boundary Similkameen Region.

Your hard work and leadership have left an indelible mark on the snowmobiling community in British Columbia. While your departure creates a void, we are committed to upholding the principles and projects you championed. We will miss your guidance and influence, but your legacy will continue to inspire us all.

Donegal Wilson, thank you for everything you have done. We wish you the very best in your new role and look forward to the bright future you will help shape for our province.
