Ready Set Ride

Snowmobiling isn’t just for adults. Across BC, families, clubs, and communities are helping young riders discover the sport in safe, fun, and meaningful ways. Ready Set Ride is the BC Snowmobile Federation’s youth program, designed to spark a lifelong love of snowmobiling while teaching kids to ride smart, stay safe, and respect the backcountry.

Leading the way is Jax the Whiskey Jack, our cheeky mascot who shares big wisdom for small riders through activity books, safety challenges, and family-friendly resources. Together, we’re building confident young riders who will carry snowmobiling forward for generations to come.

 

For Parents: Start the Conversation Early

Some of the best family memories are made on snowmobiles, but backcountry adventures come with responsibility. It’s never too early to help your kids build the skills, habits, and confidence they need to stay safe out there.

  • Kids can’t assess avalanche danger, but they can learn to recognize trail signs, pack their gear, and follow basic safety rules. Scale your trips to match their maturity, stamina, and attention span.

  • Let them help pack snacks, check the weather, and talk about where you’re going. This builds awareness and confidence — and makes safety feel like part of the fun.

  • Show your child how to ride responsibly, respect closures, wear proper gear, and treat others with kindness — both on the trail and online.

  • Use their natural curiosity to your advantage. "What are these animal tracks?" or "Why do we carry a shovel?" are perfect teachable moments that build lifelong awareness.

SNOWMOBILE SAFETY MADE FUN

Discover a playful and educational way to learn about snowmobiling — together. Our 26-page kids’ activity book is packed with coloring pages, puzzles, games, and easy safety tips. Each page is designed to spark conversations between kids and their grown-ups about backcountry awareness, safe riding habits, and respect for the outdoors.

 
 

Was your rider handed a Jax Junior Trailblazers Award card?

That means a snowmobile club volunteer spotted your child doing something great — showing respect, safety, or leadership on the trail, at the cabin, or at the staging area.

The Jax Junior Trailblazers Award is part of the BC Snowmobile Federation’s Ready. Set. Ride. youth program. It recognizes kids who help make snowmobiling safer, kinder, and more fun for everyone.

If your rider received a Junior Trailblazers Award postcard, you can mail the post card in or submit it online using the form below (no mailing required). Once we receive your submission, we’ll mail your rider their official Jax Junior Trailblazers pin to keep.
