BUILDING A CULTURE OF SAFETY

SLEDSAFE

Safe riding is a cornerstone of snowmobiling and a core priority at the BC Snowmobile Federation. Our goal is simple: whether it’s families enjoying a weekend ride, volunteers working behind the scenes, or industry partners using snowmobiles on the job, everyone should return home safe every time. Through initiatives like SledSafe and Ready Set Ride, we provide the tools, training, and education that build a lasting culture of safety across British Columbia.

SLEDSAFE INDUSTRIAL OPERATOR COURSE

Operate a snowmobile for work or search and rescue with confidence. The SledSafe Industrial Operator Course is a two-day, hands-on training program that combines practical riding skills with safety and regulatory requirements for snowmobile operation in the BC workplace.

  • Apply safe riding techniques in varied terrain and conditions

  • Safely load, unload, and secure equipment or cargo

  • Recognize and respond to workplace and environmental hazards

  • Meet WorkSafeBC requirements for snowmobile operation

Delivered by certified instructors across the province, this course equips operators with the skills and awareness needed to work safely and return home at the end of every day.

SLEDSAFE INSTRUCTOR COURSE

The BCSF offers a two-day SledSafe Instructor Course for qualified individuals who want to teach snowmobile safety in their communities or workplaces. This program prepares instructors to deliver the Industrial Operator Course while meeting provincial standards for program delivery and safety.

Instructor candidates learn how to:

  • Deliver course content effectively in classroom and field settings

  • Apply consistent training methods that meet BCSF and WorkSafeBC standards
