host a ride the right way

Planning to host a ladies ride, clinic, avalanche course, or backcountry meetup? We love that. Snowmobile clubs thrive on fresh energy and new ideas — and we’re excited to work with people who want to contribute to the riding community.

But here’s the thing: If your event takes place on club-managed trails or Crown land, there are legal and insurance requirements you must follow.

These trails are maintained by volunteers under formal agreements with the Province. That means every event must respect land use, liability, and public safety obligations. Hosting something without permission, even with great intentions, can:

  • Put participants and organizers at risk

  • Jeopardize land access agreements

  • Create insurance and legal liabilities

  • Undermine the very trail systems you rely on

Let’s work together to make your event safe, legal, and a win for the whole community.

  • Apply for a Crown Land Use Permit

If you’re hosting an independent event (not affiliated with a club), you’ll need to apply for a permit through FrontCounter BC. This process includes:

Receiving Authorization by a Provincial Recreation Officer

Consultation with the local snowmobile club

Naming both the club and BCSF on your required event insurance

Proof of adequate liability insurance coverage

  • PARTNER WITH THE LOCAL CLUB

Want to simplify things and make a bigger impact? Partner with your local snowmobile club and host your event through them. Benefits include:

Covered under the club’s existing insurance and land use agreement

Access to club trails, facilities, resources, and volunteer support

    Promotion through club channels

Compliance with all legal and land use agreements

LET’S MAKE IT HAPPEN, TOGETHER

We’re not here to shut things down — we’re here to help you do it the right way.

If you’re passionate about snowmobiling and want to host a ride, clinic, or course, local clubs want to work with you. The best events don’t happen in isolation — they grow from community, collaboration, and respect for the trails we all share.
