This past weekend, snowmobile clubs, partners, and delegates from across British Columbia came together in Kelowna for the BC Snowmobile Federation’s Annual General Meeting, Club Congress, and Excellence Awards.

While the weekend is always about connection, collaboration, and moving the sport forward, it also provides an opportunity to recognize the individuals, clubs, and partners who are making a meaningful impact on snowmobiling in BC.

This year’s award recipients reflect the strength, passion, and volunteer-driven spirit that defines our community.

2026 BCSF Excellence Awards Recipients

YOUTH OF THE YEAR went to Kruz Garwasiuk (Kelowna Snowmobile Club), whose leadership, enthusiasm, and commitment to mentoring younger riders is helping inspire the next generation.

The CARTER KOSICK MEMORIAL AST COURSE AWARD was awarded to Levi Modde, supporting his participation in Avalanche Skills Training and continued development as a safe, knowledgeable rider.

This award honours the legacy of Carter Kosick. It supports those who are committed to building their skills, making informed decisions in the backcountry, and contributing to a strong culture of safety within the snowmobiling community.

GROOMER OF THE YEAR was awarded to Keith Stanowski (Prince George Snowmobile Club), whose dedication behind the scenes ensures reliable trail access and safe riding conditions for his community.

FAMILY OF THE YEAR was presented to Shawn and Taylor Gidney (Valemount and Area Recreation Development Association), whose energy, leadership, and year-round involvement are strengthening their club and local riding culture.

SNOWMOBILER OF THE YEAR was awarded to Steve Orange (Powder Mountain Snowmobile Club), recognized for his significant contributions to club operations and the development of a safe, well-managed grooming program that supports thousands of riders each season.

BC’s Snowmobiler of the Year Award is proudly supported by Great Canadian Tours, who help us recognize this level of outstanding contribution with a guided snowmobile experience in Revelstoke for the recipient.

CLUB OF THE YEAR was awarded to the Kelowna Snowmobile Club, recognized for its renewed energy, innovative programming, and commitment to delivering exceptional trail and riding experiences.

DEALERSHIP OF THE YEAR went to Banner Powersports Group, whose continued support from their dealership network across BC for clubs, events, and riders plays an important role in growing the sport.

The TOURISM PROMOTION AND DEVELOPMENT AWARD was presented to the Canadian Motorized Backcountry Guides Association for advancing snowmobile guiding standards and helping position BC as a world-class outdoor recreation destination.

Finally, the PRESIDENT’S AWARD was awarded to the McBride Big Country Snowmobile Association for their leadership and advocacy in navigating access challenges while continuing to support riders and their community.

These recipients represent the very best of snowmobiling in British Columbia — individuals and organizations who lead, contribute, and give back in ways that benefit us all.

With Justin Boehm of the Fernie Snowmobile Club keeping the evening rolling as MC, the awards program reflected the energy, pride, and connection that define snowmobiling in BC.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in Kelowna.
