BCSF Heads to Vancouver for High-Level Talks on the Future of Snowmobiling in BC

A lot happens behind the scenes to keep snowmobiling strong in British Columbia—and last week, the BC Snowmobile Federation (BCSF) was hard at work doing just that.

BCSF Executive Director Amber Lane and Vice President Doug Bracket traveled to Vancouver for a series of important meetings with ministry leads and staff. These conversations are critical as we navigate a rapidly changing recreation landscape in the province.

Topics on the table included:

  • The upcoming amalgamation of Recreation Sites and Trails BC (RSTBC) into BC Parks, and what that shift could mean for snowmobile clubs and riders

  • The long-term future of snowmobile recreation in BC and how we ensure it remains supported, sustainable, and valued

  • Current successes and challenges our clubs are facing around the province

  • The newly revised Section 57 application process and its impact on trail approvals

  • The Off-Road Vehicle (ORV) Trail Fund and ways we can work together to strengthen it

  • Opportunities for collaboration as we all adapt to growing pressures on public land and trail-based recreation

These are not easy topics, but they are essential. Advocacy at this level takes time, trust, and a deep understanding of how provincial policy connects to what’s happening on the ground. These are not issues that individual clubs or riders can easily take on alone—but they are exactly what your Federation is here to do.

We show up so our clubs and riders have a voice where decisions are made.

As the future of land-based recreation in BC continues to evolve, the BCSF remains committed to ensuring that snowmobilers are not just considered—but actively represented.
